Seller note:

General Description
Designed by Sparkman & Stephens, Macavity was a very well-outfitted Catalina 38. She is one of the last Catalina 38s built by the factory.
The keel-stepped mast abuts the bulkhead forward of the main salon. Forward of the bulkhead are the head to port, lockers to starboard and the V-berth, which easily accommodates two adults.
A U-shaped dinette to port (that converts to a double berth) is the main feature in the salon. Aft of the dinette is a snug U-shaped galley.
On the starboard side of the salon, is a long settee with stowage behind and beneath it. A nav-station backs up to a quarter berth that extends under the cockpit.
Actual Condition
It is reported the owner encountered heavy weather and multiple failures while sailing this 38' Catalina; single-handed. The most significant failure was the corroded exhaust mixing elbow. This allowed soot and saltwater to enter the vessel, creating the bulk of the damages. Damages to the sails were partially due to the heavy weather and because he was alone.
Hull damage occurred due to the anchor being improperly positioned in the anchor roller.
High swells, of about 10', caused water to enter the boat from leaking port lights; which filled the bilge. Water splashed up into electrical and electronics, as well. The engine failed and the owner was towed to a marina for haul out.
Please inspect carefully before making an offer on the boat.
*We always encourage potential Bidders/Buyers to view the item personally or have someone else inspect it for you prior bidding. It is entirely the buyer's responsibility to inspect and determine the vessel's actual condition.
